"The Engagement" is the fifteenth episode in the fifth season of the CBS sitcom The Nanny. It aired on the fourth of March, in 1998.
Synopsis[]
When Fran learns that Maxwell has bought a diamond ring, she suspects a marriage proposal is in the air.
Plot[]
Maxwell is ready to propose to Fran and thanks to Niles everyone already knows it. At the big announcement dinner everyone is there except Maxwell.
Maxwell got mugged and the muggers took the ring. Fran comes to try and find him, and finds him in a pile of cardboard boxes. Maxwell will later take her to choose another engagement ring.

- In the fantasy scene of Fran, Maxwell, Niles and CC where they are all old, Fran told CC to go to the party with her Husband, Niles said he doesn't want to go. This is foreshadowing in the series finale where Niles and CC are married.
